and data in
GlobalAdmin can be enabled or disabled based on custom settings. This
keeps the user
interface simple and easy to use, until you
are ready to extend your security system and enable more advanced
features. Also, this allows you to restrict the rights of secondary
administrators.
Intelligent
Combination of Centralized and Decentralized Management
Each location in an
organization often manages the end user security devices, such as SmartCards,
CryptCards,
and
Elkeys
for the users at that location. At the same time, network and access
control rules are usually administered from a central location.
GlobalAdmin allows
the separation of these tasks, so various locations can provide security
devices, while the central location controls access to the network using
these security devices.
For example, a SmartCard for a staff member can be configured and created by
the local administrator,
using decentralized GlobalAdmin station. This information is sent in a
secure manner using a Public/Private key system to the central
GlobalAdmin station at the head office.
If the local
administrator grants the staff member access to a server, this
configuration change is detected, and is then automatically transmitted
to the central GlobalAdmin. The
central GlobalAdmin then
updates the VPN to allow access for this user. Many decentralized
GlobalAdmin stations can be used with one central
GlobalAdmin.

based commercial software offers a general way of controlling all the

Reliability
Operational
reliability, access security, and privacy are of utmost importance. An
integrated backup management system provides for the recovery of large
volumes of data at any time.
For the operation of certain tasks, such as the
reorganization of the database, backup copies are automatically
produced before and after the operation. A time-controlled backup system creates encrypted copies
periodically on a remote server. Since all backup data is encrypted,
it can be
kept on any storage media. In the unlikely event that a GlobalAdmin
station fails, the last backup can be restored into a new GlobalAdmin
station, and work can continue. Also, if you have multiple databases
running on the same GlobalAdmin station, backup of each
database can be done with
a different key. To further enhance security, the entire hard disk of a GlobalAdmin station is
encrypted, and protected using SmartCard authentication control.
Easy
to Use
GlobalAdmin is
an easy to use Windows application. An integrated HTML help system
allows for
context sensitive help at any time. A uniform user interface for every
screen reduces
learning time and mistakes. For the import of large
amount of data, such as the list of user names, an optional filter
can be used, eliminating the need for a lot of manual input. GlobalAdmin
is supplied as a complete workstation, running Windows 2000
Professional. An
Elkey
inside the
GlobalAdmin encrypts the hard disk and provides access control. It has a
special
adapter for reading and writing to
CryptCards,
and uses an external SmartCard reader to program SmartCards for
Elkey
systems. It also comes with an Ethernet card for the management of IPCryptors remotely.
