Remote Update keeps Sophos Anti-Virus up to date on an end-user's computer via a website or network connection provided by their employer.

Who should use Remote Update?

Employees of organisations who are infrequently, or never, connected to the main company network, but who connect to the internet from time to time.

Which platforms does Remote Update run on?

Remote Update runs on Windows 95/98/Me and Windows NT/2000/XP.

How does Remote Update work?

Remote Update connects over the internet, WAN or LAN to a computer in your organisation on which a regular Sophos Central Installation Directory (CID) is installed. It checks to see whether there are any new files that it needs. If there are, it downloads them to a special location on the local computer. It then runs the Setup program for Sophos Anti-Virus to update itself from that location.
